Release note

AI sound effects, smarter relinking, and documents in your prompts

The assistant can now add royalty-free sound effects just like it adds music, missing media can be relinked straight from the built-in stores, scripts and subtitle files can ride along inside every AI prompt, plus theme fixes for the AI drawer and a crash fix in the renderer.

This release rounds out the AI workflow and cleans up several rough edges you told us about.

New features

The AI can now add sound effects β€” just like music

Generating a project with the assistant no longer stops at visuals and a soundtrack. A new 🎧 SFX toggle (on by default, independent of the music toggle) lets the AI suggest royalty-free sound effects for the moments that beg for them β€” whooshes on transitions, clicks on UI beats, impacts, risers, ambience under a scene.

  • Suggestions appear in a review card under the AI's reply. Nothing is imported until you approve each pick.
  • Approved effects land exactly where the AI asked for them, with sensible fade-in/fade-out envelopes.
  • You can type your own searches into the same card to steer the soundscape yourself.
  • If the toggle is off but the AI thinks your video needs effects, it offers to turn sourcing on with one click.

Attach scripts and subtitles to your AI prompts

A new πŸ“Ž paperclip button in the AI composer lets you attach plain-text files to any message β€” parsed locally, sent as text only, never uploaded:

  • Script / document (.txt, .md) β€” the assistant treats it as authoritative source material: it follows your scene order, narration lines, and terminology when building the timeline, titles, and pacing.
  • Subtitles (.srt, .vtt) β€” bind a subtitle file to one of your linked clips. The AI reads the timestamps to understand what happens when, so it can cut and trim at sentence boundaries, time captions to spoken lines, and place effects at the exact moments described by the cues.

When a clip goes offline, the relink action now offers three choices instead of one:

  • From disk… β€” the familiar file picker.
  • Free music store β€” search and swap in a replacement track; existing timeline clips are retargeted automatically.
  • Sound-effects library β€” same flow via Freesound.

Batch relink (select a folder of originals) keeps working with automatic filename matching.

Improvements

  • The "Generate with AI" drawer now follows your active theme. Previously its surfaces stayed solid dark on every theme except ProDark; all panels, inputs, menus, and overlays inside the drawer now resolve to translucent theme-aware tokens across all themes, including the light ones.
  • Missing-median-data errors during relinking surface a friendly message (e.g., when the server has no Freesound key configured) instead of failing silently.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a canvas crash: rendering no longer throws can't access property "x", track.properties.position is undefined when a track omits position/scale/opacity β€” the renderer falls back to safe defaults (center placement, scale 1, full opacity).
  • Fixed a provider-selection type error in the AI API route that could break custom-provider requests.

As always, Fiivo stays local-first: attached documents and subtitles never leave your browser except as text inside the AI request you explicitly send, and every sourced effect or track requires your approval before it touches the timeline.
